Inequity in Secondary School Advanced Mathematics
Secondary school mathematics plays an important role in aiding students to prepare for the transition to college while also paving the path towards a variety of career paths, notably, careers in STEM. Due to the nature of the prerequisites necessary for a high school student to enroll for calculus, typically 4 years, academic tracking has been implemented to assess and provide students with rigorous course offerings that will promote and develop critical thinking and mathematical capabilities suitable to their aptitude. Generally, the tracks are referred to as the ‘advanced’ and ‘traditional’ tracks. However, tracking’s implementation was quickly racialized and, thus, has caused many students of color to be filtered out of advanced math coursework which inevitably leads to a lack of diversity in STEM. These factors have led to disproportionate representation in courses such as calculus, but certain schools have managed to implement policies to alleviate the issue or close the gap. This research looks to locate these schools via data provided by the Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC) with time series analysis to provide some more contextualization on the ways schools are dealing and responding to these issues. This study will specifically look at disproportionatilty rates in calculus enrollment across schools that meet the selected criteria. It is expected that larger schools, racially diverse schools, and urban schools are less likely to experience racialized tracking. Schools that provide or implement support services are also presumed to diminish the effects of racialized tracking.

Analysis of Undergraduate Mathematics Coursework for Curriculum Design
Andragogy is the study of adult education and is an area of research that is neglected within university environments. It emphasizes reframing classroom structures in order to stay relevant to the dynamic and unique learning outcomes of adults. To what extent does an investigation of the presence of andragogy in a mathematical modeling course inform curriculum design? There is a lack of curriculum/documentation analysis relative to increasingly modern formats of upper-division mathematics courses by use of technology and real-world applications. In finding proper modes of transportation for abstract mathematical concepts, teachers can make more informed approaches to teaching at a university level. A case study utilizing grounded theory will be conducted referencing the transcripts from class recordings and assigned coursework. Textual data will be collected and defined by discrete classifications based on classroom environment, course materials, and student-teacher interactions. An interrogation of this data will be generated to draw connections to the occurrence of andragogical principles. These results aim to influence curriculum design and subsequent educational institutions in the development of degree plans and relevant course curriculums.

Reported Discrimination Against Individuals with Disabilities in the Rental Housing Market: Findings from a Systematic Literature Review
Fair Housing agencies conclude that an increasing trend of discrimination complaints has correlated with Disability status as the highest-ranked cause of housing violation in the rental housing market. Despite this, there is currently a gap in addressing how individuals with Disabilities navigate the rental housing markets and the impacts of discrimination on this community. Available research published since the deinstitutionalization movement pinpoints a lack of government enforcement and alternative housing options for individuals with Disabilities. These alternative housing options include but are not limited to supportive, inclusive services, such as participation in community events, personal assistance flexibility, and the coordination of integration into public communities. Bridging the research gap, The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)’s findings on rental housing access for individuals with Disabilities and the impact of barriers and discrimination provides the core foundation of this project. HUDS comprehensive evaluation additionally provides precedence for the value of testing among fair housing agencies, seeking to affirm, validate, and collaborate complaints of discrimination based on Disability status. This report conducts a literature review analyzing trends in housing discrimination against individuals with Disabilities in the rental housing market and the barriers that impact fair housing long-term accessibility.
